Heysham Community Pre-School (formerly Heysham Youth and Community Centre Pre-School) has been established for over 20 years. Originally situated within the old Heysham Youth and Community Centre, we have evolved as the building has changed, and are now located within Heysham Children's Centre. We provide day-care to children aged between 2-5 years and offer a friendly, family environment, where every child is valued and their needs individually assessed and met.
Heysham Community Pre-School offers a nurturing and stimulating environment where your child is encouraged to flourish and grow. Our room is well resourced, and our outdoor space is second to none. Here children can learn about the outdoors, plant in our vegetable patch, and due to the fantastic gazebos, can play outside come rain or shine.
We encourage all parents to be involved in their child’s learning by contributing to their learning journey. We operate a key person system, where each member of staff is allocated specific children. This ensures strong relationships are fostered between the staff, the children and their families.
Dawn, our Nursery Manager, has worked at the Pre-School for over 15 years and is completing her final year studying for her BA Hons in Education. Dawn leads a well-qualified and experienced team, who are all qualified to level 3 and above. All staff have Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid Qualifications, as well as the majority also being qualified in Food Safety.

“My daughter loved this nursery, fantastic staff and atmosphere. Looking forward to my little one starting in September!”

What your child can learn
Our indoor environment is divided into ten areas of continuous provision, these are mark making, books, role play, small world, construction, painting, sand, water, workshop and malleable. All of the areas are well resourced and clearly labelled, making it easy for the children to choose which resources they wish to play with.
The areas are enhanced with further resources depending on which particular topic or theme we are exploring at the time. We work to the Early Years Foundation Stage and plan adult led focused activities, which are differentiated to ensure all children benefit from taking part in them
For both full and half day sessions.
